When was the last reported "smog cloud" in the middle of South Dakota?? Why should those people ( or the rest of us all) be punished.

LOL, Fine, you can have the dirty diesels, just don't let any of your smog make it's way East . Maybe we can get you a rebate on taxes that support the Coast Guard too as that service is irrelevant in SD.

Some states like CA and MA already have tighter regulations than the Feds mandate. It's a pain (cannot buy a diesel car this year) but ultimately it is a step in the right direction.

I also believe that most dealers in Southern NH order cars with the CA Smog stuff also. If they didn't I don't think they could sell to residents of MA.

That will be the case next year (hopefully) when the BlueTec engines are finally certified in CA/MA and ??three other states that do not currently allow new diesel cars to be registered. This year there are no diesels at all available for the 5 higher than federal standards states.

Actually, maybe those who don't care about air pollution should move to Russia. Now that is a free country. No rules that cannot be broken so long as you tip the police. Nice smelly old diesels chugging around Moscow unfettered by enviroMENTALIST concerns. You can probably get a great deal on Belarus tractors there too without all the fussy ROPS and other silly safety devices. Dang, sounds like the good ole days.
