scag turf tiger with kohler 27 engine hesitation problems

I changed out the plugs n wires. Still having the same problem. The engine in mine is a Kawasaki. I'm going to see about getting a fuel filter as well as oil filter n new oil. Very discouraging!

OK, new to the forum and have a 27hp Kohler command pro. Problem started about two weeks ago just like original poster. Mower will run perfectly fine for around 30 minutes or so then start bogging down. I have used both fuel tanks and it happens on both, added sea foam, changed plugs and fuel filter and all fluids are fresh. It will begin to bog down and i will stop and let it idle and then it will slightly backfire and then go back to full throttle, i will mow about 3 more minutes and it will do it again. In the beginning it would eventually stop and i could finish mowing, now i have to let it sit and cool down. HELP!!

I am having the exact same problem as the original poster with a 52inch turf tiger kohler 25hp. I mowed about 30 minutes,then was going up a slight incline and making a turn and the mower bogged down backfired and cut off. Had to push it down the driveway and now it won't start at all. So far checked seat switch,handle bar switchs,brake switch, 2-20amp fuses>all good. I think this has something to do with the pto, although my first thought was bad gas.(tank was almost empty from last year and I added 6 gallons of non ethanol gas and some seafoam before starting) I am going to change the spark plugs today, and see if I can get it cranking. I put a new battery in it yesterday. I had to jump it off before I changed the battery because the old battery wouldn't hold a charge, didn't know if I messed something up doing that. I haven't changed the relay,ignition switch,electronic module, or pto engagement switch. Anybody got any other ideas where to look? Are there any more safety switches anywhere else?

Did anyone here find the real issue for the Skag power loss? I have the same issue on a Skag that I am looking at for a friend and was hoping to quickly resolve this. thanks Steve

I had a similar issue and it turned out to be a loose electrical connection between the battery and the starter solenoid. The nut holding the battery wire to the solenoid had worked it's way loose but still made a connection. Would run fine for about 30 minutes and then randomly lose power and immediately come right back up to speed without stalling. Not sure if the nut was torqued correctly at the factory or it's an issue with the copper threaded post and a steel nut. Once I tightened that bolt, I haven't had an issue since.
