Stag Freedom Z 52”
After running my Scag Freedom Z mower for a while and turning it off, it’s hard to start. It just spins and spins. I have to set the throttle to the fastest position and it will finally start after cranking it for 2-3 minutes. Any help appreciated. Thanks

I have had a number of Scag mowers.. all have been great machines.. except for the one with a Kohler motor.. that thing was a POS. ..first things I would check are the air filter.. inside one as well as the exterior one. Also the fuel filter.. and also check the oil level.

Sounds like vapor lock. Is the carb or fuel line right by the exhaust?

Sounds like flooding to me. The typical way to clear a flooded engine is to crank the engine with the throttle wide open.

Next time this happens, crank the engine for a few moments, then pull the plugs, look and see if they are loaded up with fuel.

Make sure the fuel after fire solenoid on the carb bowl is clicking when the key is turned on and off. Could be an issue of heat sinking the solenoid and is hot failing.

Not sure but I’ll check.
