I know others have posted about losing pets, knowing when its time to say goodbye etc. Yesterday we had to put our boy "Clark" to sleep. I had him for 17 years which is about four years longer than I've known my wife! For the past three years he fought a battle with cancer and for awhile I thought he was too stubborn to die, but time catches up to all of us sooner or later and this past weekend it finally caught up with him. Even though I have known for three years this was how it was going to end I have to say it sure didn't make it any easier. The doctor and staff at the vet's office were great and made a bad situation as easy as can be expected. It was a sharp reminder of how fragile all our lives are and what a fine line that really exists between life and death. I will miss him...:(

My sincerest condolences.

We have a pair of chocolate labs and it kind of hurts just thinking about the day when their time is up.

So what breed was Clark? Sounds like 17 years was a pretty good run for the old guy.

Don't grieve too long for now I'm free
I'm following the path God set for me
I ran to Him when I heard His call
I wagged my tail and left it all.
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your heart and share with me
God wanted me now, He set me free.

Having lost my 12 year old Rott 3 years ago and still feeling it, that picture makes my eyes water.

Never has a quote rang so true with myself.

Sorry to hear about your friend.

JDGREEN4ME I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I dread the day I have to make that trip. I have an Aussie boy, 13 years old that has been with me every step of the way. He had Testicular cancer last year and though he only has one testical left, He was able to produce a boy for me born on Feb.13. Here is a picture of the old man and his son. He is a chip off the old block. I am glad to have him.

getting your pets neutered at a young age eliminates their chance of getting testicular cancer.

Thanks Mr. Obvious. It also eliminates their chance of reproduction....

I know my day is coming. My "baby" is at least 14 now. She is not fast as she once was, but still never passes on a road trip with me if given the chance. She has literally traveled the country with me and was their LONG before my wife. It's gonna be rough when the day comes.

My prayers are with you friend.
