Say, I know it's silly request but I need head torque sequence ....

... on a Massey ferguson 35 4 cylinders diesel.

I have the manual shop which states to torque bolts from inward to outward. Sounds silly to me ( I like to work in a perfect way and that's deffo not the good way )
Anyone ? I need the correct way sequence , I think it has 22 bolts if i am right ( from memory , i am at home not at the garage) and i believe it's a Perkins motor.

In my younger day worked on a lot of machinery;ammonia, CO2, and freon compressors closest to engine heads. Some real big old stuff we had no manuals to go by. Our procedure then was to start in the middle and criss-cross from side to side. snug every thing up first then using a bolt torque standard chart proceeded to to torque in 3 steps working up to the chosen final torque. That gave even results across the head. Naturally we checked everything first to assure the head was true in all directions. Good old bluing technique as well as a straight edge were used. Sometimes had to have them surface ground to true-up. That procedure is consistent with the work we did having the manuals to guide us.

I was taught work in a spiral circle starting in the center. Seems to match most torqueing charts.

Yeah I did it in a circle pattern and retorque a second time to perfectly tight all the bolts.
Seems perfect now.
And yes, the head surface was ground-up to make sure it's even, we did check with a straight edge

All good, this old baby will be up and running again.
