When I get logs the excavator drug through the mud, I wash them off, on both sides, with a water hose with a nozzle on the end before engaging the debarker. The log and sawmill doesn't mind, and the water splashing back on me cools me down. Sometimes I have to use a steel brush to clean the dirt stuck to sap on the end the blade enters.

Rustyiron,
Nice shed! How are you going to handle exhaust fumes?

It's pretty wide open Brandi and I haven't even given it a thought. I guess that means I haven't smelled anything in between passing out and the headaches (just kidding about that) 😆.
I only have a gas motor, perhaps I'd smell diesel exhaust. How's your building coming along?

It's not. Been too busy sawing customer's logs.

Rusty, That's a great looking shed and it looks as if it'll serve its purpose (and yours) quite well. Great workmanship, but I sure don't envy the time and labor you've spent to get her this far! Keep at it, looking forwards to seeing you sawing logs inside!

Greg it's just what I do, better than mowing the lawn;)
On one of my breaks (knee hurts like he!!) today, I figured that I'm into this for about $8.50/sf. That certainly is an inspiration and motivator.(y)

Well, I got the sawmill out of hibernation yesterday. I had an 80" long red pine about 20" dia that I cut some 6" x 6" timbers to start stacking lumber on them. I also cut some stickers. This afternoon, I put up a 12ft redpine and started squaring it up. Those full logs are all my B26TLB will handle. Jon
