Saved King Kutter from scrapyard

Got this rotary cutter with a tractor purchase. Was going to scrap it last year when scrap prices were through the roof, besides, I wanted a three point type cutter, not a pull behind. Bottom fell out of the scrap market and I took a good look at what I had to work with. Some cut off wheels, welding rod, paint and scrap metal from work, just might turn this pile of junk into a working three point unit. After many hours anoying my neighbors with pounding, cutting and grinding, it didn't come out too bad...and it works.

looks good we all have projects like these by the time we are done we wonder why we did it. but then we remember it was fun. i like the tractor nice international, what vintage is it.

It's a 1955 300 Utility. About 40 engine HP, independant PTO and live hydraulics.

Sometimes yah gotta do what yah gotta do. It looks stronger than the original and will probably last longer. Good job. My best friends are the wire feed, torch, and bandsaw.

Yep.. I'm sure my neighbors cringe every time they see something ride home on my trailer.

It's subjective, I guess. Why not something that matches the tractor? Or, something cheerful, and bright? Or, something racy? So many options besides "babysh*t yellow"!

You know, my wife kept asking me why yellow and not red. I used "Implement Yellow" I bought at TSC, because the new King Kutters are yellow and I wanted some contrast to the tractor. So, my plan to paint the tractor IH federal yellow and white isn't going to go over too well?

I've got nothing against "yellow"; just that yellow!

I guess, if that was the original color, or is the current "King Kutter" color, then it makes good sense to use it. Do what you like to your tractor, but if it's the same color as the mower, please post a warning before you post the pictures!!!

KK had a red, and a yellow.. etc.

John Deere yellow was available, but that would have been seen as sacrilegious by some folks.
