I have a Satoh S650G with a National Loader. I just had a couple of the cylinders rebuilt on the loader and changed out a few bad hyd hoses, and now with everything back together it sounds like a loud whining noise around the hyd pump and under the right side of the seat where the lines come into the control box. Does anyone know if I need to prime the pump and if so how to do it. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

jason

according to maintenance manual. No mention of bleeding.

1. Pump seized (I think there would be more obvious signs)
2. Excessive suction of air. Through suction pipe or oil pump seal.
3. Hydraulic oil. Replace with specified oil.

OK. according to mainteance manual use turbine oil #120. According to owners manual use 80W.

I have seen online recomendations for Hydraulic fluid. I think this might be my problem (jerking lift). I am going to chage fluid and clean screen in morning.

Looked up turbine #120, it is a 60W oil. Also forgot to mention maintenance manual says "The pump oil seal is made of synthetic resin, and therefore mineral oil should be used for lubrication. Use of acid and alkaline, kerosene and high octane vegitable is not allowed. Extremely high temperature oil may cause corrosion to oil seal." A little long but directly from manual.

I have a S650G with National FEL . About two years ago I lost all hydraulics when I let the fluid go too low . When I refilled the fluid , I got the loud squealing noise .
At first I thought it was the pump . You can test your pump by loosening up the connections and starting it up for a second . If the pump is good , it will blast fluid all over .
I ended up taking everything under the seat apart . Replacing O-rings and cleaning everything . It is not that complicated .
Have not had a problem since . And I used Universal Tractor Fluid (UTF). It is hard to find in one gallon containers , You might have to buy 5 gallons .
Good luck

Try to get turbine oil for the Satoh. Universal will not work well especially in winter. Will squeal and be herky-jerky. I think I got mine from Grainger. They didn't have the exact weight .but I blended two they did have to make the correct weight. The difference was like night and day especially in freezing weather.

You can get UTF in 2 Gallon jugs at Tractor Supply Co. (TSC). I just put it in yesterday morning, and yes it is herky-jerky when it warms, but only when I make small raises. It is smooth full stroke. I don't think the system has been used in about 20 years though (based on condition of the fuel and water in the other fluids). May smooth out with use. If it keeps up I will try to find turbine oil.
