satoh buck alternator

hello,
ive got a satoh buck and the alternator went out and im not payin 200 dlrs for a replacement so i went with the 72 ford courier option instead.i picked it up today and the alt has a pigtail that is 2 wire plug that plugs into back and another on the goes to the stud on back and another black wire that is hooked to nothing.the pigtail that comes from the alt has the 4 way plug that the tractor plug goes to.now my question is how do i wire this thing up?is the black loose wire a ground wire?any input would be appreciated,i thought that you should be able to plug the harness into the back of the alt and put the one wire on the stud and be done,but this ine isnt that simple i gues.thanks in advance

Google how a Ford Courier is wired , it might give some clues for you to try?
