I have a 1974 S650G with some starting issues. I've noticed over the past few months it not wanting to crank much, especially when it's hot. Sometimes it's just a click. It's gotten worse to the point that even after I let it cool down yesterday, it was still just a click or extremely slow cranking (not enough to start it) when I turn the key. I felt the starter after trying to start it for a while and it was hot. I've confirmed battery connections were solid and the alternator was replaced fairly recently. My assumption is that the starter and/or solenoid is bad. Can anyone confirm this based on the history I've given? I believe it has the Mazda PB100 engine. Will a compatible starter work? Does anyone have a part number for this I can give to my NAPA man? Thanks in advance for the help!

With your explaination I can't give any advise with confidence.
But i would pull it and take it to a rebuild shop and have them check it and
overhaul if needed.
