I've a 670D, I've read
Q: My manual says to use gear oil in the transmission. Is this right?

A: No. The manuals were incorrect. Most Mitsubishi tractors use a single system in which the transmission uses the same fluid as the hydraulics. Use Universal Tractor Fluid, AW46 Tractor Hydraulic Oil, JD Type 303 Special Purpose oil or the equivalent. An exception to this is the Satoh S650G, S670 and ST2500. These tractors have a split system with a separate hydraulic reservoir.
here Valley Power

So for the 670D I'm running, which is dripping oil out both front axles, do I just pour in 80W gear oil?
And then use Universal Tractor Fluid, AW46 Tractor Hydraulic Oil for the tranny?
/edit - or is it gear oil for both?
Thanks

You can use the tractor hydraulic fluid in all of the gearboxes, but I am more comfortable running gear oil in the front axle and hydraulic fluid in the transmission, which also serves as the reservoir for the hydraulic system in most tractors, except, I think, the 650 and 670.

If both sides are leaking, though, you might want to replace the seals and then change the fluids. I believe the 670 is, like the 650, built with separate reservoirs for the hydraulic system and the transmission, different from most other tractors.

Thanks for the reply.
The front axles were/are dripping S L O W.
I "filled er' up" and over two days no moving, no visible drip.

Now - for the 3pt - Hydraulic or gear oil?
What's the fill level?

On the front axles I filled it till I could get oil on my little finger when I stuck it down the hole.
On the hydraulics I put in 6 gallons, should I fill it further? Does it need to be up to the bottom of the hole?

this Bison was lent to me and I'm just trying to "do it right" w/o bothering my uncle-in-law.
