Satellite internet wire and chink question (not racist!!)

We have red squirrels that I kill every chance I get because they love log homes and porcupines are another story, one a month get the lead around here..

How thick will the chinking be? Is the cable clamped to the logs? If you want to be able to replace or plan ahead, could you place a 1" pvc pipe over the cable? This pipe would be actually a half pipe, just the outer half keeping the chinking off the cable. Clamps would have to be removed. A secnd full pipe could be placed a log higher or lower for future wire possibilities. Just some thoghts. Jon
