So, title basically says it, anyone been through the process of taking a salvage title on a road vehicle and getting a rebuilt title? Ive done some minor research and they say you need a vehicle inspection, to prove its been "rebuilt". So, what about a vehicle that was totaled for strictly cosmetic issues? Wouldn't think an "inspection" would care about cosmetics, or anything, but would you have to show you made "repairs" to get rebuilt title?
Background, mom and her husband had a minor wreck in a 2013 Toyota Highlander, basically a fender bender, and drove it home after accident. It has damage on drivers side front and rear door, and the passenger side front door, as well as both fenders. They got hit in side, and pushed into a vehicle beside them. So, in all likelihood, its totalled by the time insurance does 3 doors, 2 fenders, air dam, and paint. Moms husband offered it to my son, if its totaled, he plans to buy it back from insurance. In that case, it will come with a salvage title, and to get it tagged it needs to get rebuild title.
