Robert - It's lots of fun - but beware, It's addictive, before long you're going to need a bigger boat so you can take your kid's friends with you. It sure beats them sitting in front of the TV. The boat belongs to my parent's, but they are kind enough to let me use it.

We have a slip in East Greenwich RI. We went to Cuttyhunk, Edgartown, Nantucket for a week, Then back the same way. We were out two weeks and it was about two weeks too short.
One of these years I'll take a month off and we'll cruise the Maine coast and up to Nova Scotia.
The funny thing is, buying a sailboat was never even on my radar screen. 8 years ago my wife was invited by a coworker to crew (Rail Meat)on his boat for the Great Chase Race in Hingham Bay.. She came home and said we need to get a sailboat.
So we looked around and ended up buying our Catalina 36...

Great pics, looks like loads of fun ! Ive been to Marthas' Vineyard many times, my parents used to take us there when we were kids, and I took the family out there a few years ago ! I love south beach or also refered to as Katama Beach. You sometimes get some great rollers for body surfing out there. Nantucket is another favorite, and Kathleen and I will occassionally spend a weekend out on Block Island. I had a 28 ft power boat that I would take from Milford, Ct out to Block on occassion. I used to joke with the wife, if we missed Block it would be a long time before we hit land !

Half of the south beach below Katama was washed away in a breach during the April Noreaster.... I'll dig out a pic for you later.... I took some a couple of weeks ago.
One year my wife and I stayed 28 days down in Katama when you could anchor there...
