Saw a crew cleaning up the rubble of the house that burnt to the ground a week or so ago .
The were using 2 mini track hoes a JD tractor a international tractor and a skid steer.

The sad part is the couple who lived there died in the fire.
They were in their late sixties and the only occupants .
Did not realize it till reading their obituaries that the lady was my former next door neighbors niece.
He was my neighbor from 1966 to 2006.

Sad, indeed. We had a home on our road that fell into disrepair after the couple both lost their jobs a year ago. The bank took it back, leveled the home and is now selling the property. Nice couple, nice kids--all gone without a trace...Sad as well...Regards, Mike

That is very sad. Hard on the fire crews too to lose people in a fire.

Can not stress how important it is to have, and maintain smoke detectors.

Fortunately, the last demo I saw was a good one; our fire station was demo'd a couple weeks ago. It's being rebuilt. Our station was in sad shape; the fill it was built on in 1966 was not ocmpacted properly; the building was sagging in all the wrong places. The new station will be built to current standards, a bit bigger becuase we have grown.

Sad but unfortunately it seems to happen all too often. I am a heavy sleeper and so we have a monitored smoke detector on our security system, the 30 watt siren is by our bedroom. As well we have two hard wired ones, one on each floor. If only more people had one or two working smoke detectors in the house it would avert many needless tragedies. Often you do not have an instantaneous fire but some smoldering which give off smoke before it turns into a raging fire.
