SA324 Add a Backhoe Later?

Anyone know if you can add a backhoe later if you don't buy it right from the dealer at the start?

Having had one, my opinion is small tractor backhoe's are an over priced joke. Save your money, rent a full sized one for the occasional needs.

I think it depends on your expectations. I have a continual need to clear ditches. The scraper blade won't work and the FEL won't either. I'll be using my backhoe on a monthly basis. I also plan to clear out some trees for a garage in the coming months. Would a bigger unit do it quicker? Yup. But I already have this backhoe so I'll take a few more days and do it with what I have. I'm sure anyone used to using a large backhoe would get frustrated with the limitations of a smaller unit.

Depends on the definition of "small".
I have a 48 HP Kubota L48 TLB with an 11' advertised dig depth.
I don't know if it is considered "small", but it is certainly not a full size machine.
It is only for my personal use.
I do not use it often, but I love having it readily available, when I need it.

I do agree, that the hoes under 9' dig depth are relatively weak, and probably not cost effective.

Again, depends on your expectations and plans for use. If you buy it planning to dig deep, you'll be disappointed. Realistic expectations will go a long way on being happy with what you got.
