Buying Advice S650G Satoh need advice

I am in the process of replacing the throttle cable on my satoh, but I ran into a problem that I hope someone can help me with. How do you go about getting the cable out of the holder next to the throttle lever? Do I need to remove the gas tank? Is there an easier way?

Removing the tank will allow easier access to the cable. There are no tricks here. Bill
