MF35, MF135, MF203 with loader.
Hi all, not at all new to machinery or tractors - just to Shibaura tractors. I recently bought this one, cheap, in its current condition to repair and keep. It is what I need - 20BHP diesel, 60" mid-mount mowing deck, HST, 3PL, PTO, P/ST, and 4WD - a lot of attributes for a guy who has to look after 5 acres. I need something better than a 38" ride-on.
I have found a collapsed and shattered bearing in the gearbox on the main drive shaft, directly beneath the front edge of the top cover that the seat bolts onto, and where two housings meet. I need to split the tractor there to work on the gearbox. My problem is that I can't separate the two halves. The sealant on the casings has released but it looks like a shaft is holding the two halves together.
Is there something else to remove in the back end - perhaps a snap ring on a shaft? I have not yet removed the lift cover, and I'm hoping I don't have to, but I don't want to damage this further.
I'll try to add pictures. It's the same tractor as a Ford New Holland 1220. Information on these tractors is scarce. Any knowledgeable help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi all, to prevent unnecessary head-scratching, here's the link to a parallel thread in the Ford-New Holland section. It's the same tractor, and they've got onto some helpful info for me.
This could also assist other owners of S320s or NH 1220s.
Some enlightening pics too.
