I have an 2008 S250 with 1200 hours on it. I've been hearing a noise when it was hot and tracked it down to the fan rubbing on the shroud beneath it on the side towards the passenger compartment. Everything looks ok and the bolts holding the fan assembly are tight. Any suggestions?

this is fairly common on the K series machines. the plastic shroud seems to expand and contract with heat/cold and flexes. Don't know if fan could be out of balance but you would probably feel that if something got in and damaged it. My toolcat does the same thing and it comes and goes with temp fluctuations. Hope that's all it is.

I came to the same conclusion and last week drilled from the engine compartment up through the shroud and put a couple screws in it. It's been run 10 hours since then with no problems. I'll probably switch the screws out for bolts, washers and lock nuts when I figure out how to get the guards off each side of the air intake/exhaust without tearing everything apart. I may just cut them off and make my own.
