Kubota B7510
HI, I'm new to the forum and new to Kubotas. I just bought a relatively new (64 hours) B7510. I didn't get an owner's manual in the deal so I'm trying to figure out all of the controls by trial and error. I think I have everything figured out except the knob that says open and close under the front of the seat. I suspect this has something to do with the HST, but I just can't figure it out from the symbolism on the sticker next to the knob. Can anyone tell me what it's for? Also after mowing for about an hour the rear pto shaft heats up to the point where it's almost too hot to touch. Is this normal? I am going to try and buy an owner's manual...probably off the internet since the closest dealer to me is over 50 miles away. If anyone would be willing to give me a quick rundown on scheduled maintenance that would be much appreciated. I am going to change the engine oil as soon as I can find an oil filter. Do I have to get a Kubota filter or can I pick up an equivalent aftermarket at walmart. I'm also suspecting I use 10w-40 oil...this is my first diesel.
Awesome tractor! and thanks for all the help in advance.
Thanks, Scott

15-40 weight oil, shell rotella is good. The knob controls the speed of the 3 point hitch. Maintenence depends on use, do a search here (tbn). Nice machine, i ran one myself (B7500) for years.

That probably controls the rate of drop of the 3PH. If you close it when the 3PH is raised with an implement rigged to it, it'll stay up. This is good if you're transporting an implement. Do not use this to hold an implement up while working underneath the implement. That's a good way to end up in TBN's Safety Forum.
I suggest you normally leave it around ½ open. That way, the implement will drop when you push the rockshaft lever, but won't slam down.

Good luck with your B7510...that's a nice tractor.

The open & close knob will require weight on the 3 pt hitch as to judge the movement, such as fast or slow. I would not think the rear PTO should be hot, warm maybe.

This will get u started:
AT 100 hours change engine oil
AT 200 hours change engine oil & filter
AT 300 hours change engine oil & filter, change trans oil & 2 filters & oil in front axle
AT 400 hours change engine oil & filter

This is the Eng. oil filter which u will need: Kubota Eng. Filter 70000-74034.
Will have to get this through Kubota or on-line.

That heat problem on that PTO shaft seems a bit odd. I can't really say that I have actually checked that shaft for heat on my 7510 after mowing. Warm seems normal.... Untouchable could be dangerous.

The manual(s): There is a seprate booklet for the tractor, MMM, FEL etc etc. I've seen better, but they're not bad. Better than what you have now. Ha!

You have a great tractor and you are in the right place to learn as much as possible about it. Great bunch of experienced fellows.

Good luck

BD

It's not so hot that I can't touch it, but if I grab it and hold on to it it becomes uncomfortable enough that I have to let go. I wonder if anyone else has noticed this? Also this is with the MMM at the higher pto rpm.

Hey Scott, welcome to the forums. One of the members here maintains a site with manuals on it, see http://www.mediamax.com/kubotabooks and look under the tractors section. It is running slowly tonight so be patient, I do recall seeing the 7510 in there. You should find some info there to help.

That's pretty normal for temperature. Bear in mind that the shaft is running in hydraulic fluid that usually runs 100F above ambient temperature at normal operating speeds and temp , ie. 80F day= approx 180F oil temps for transmission/hydraulic fluid.
