Hi,

I'm just making up a draft for a box blade. I wanna pull this 4ft box blade with my 19hp Kubota B1500. Fortunately i found Google Sketchup, as this is a really easy way to make up a few drafts on the computer.

I'm happy to hear your critic and maybe a few suggestion how to improve a few things! :)

Cheers
Rushy

Welcome to TBN, Rushy.
That looks plenty beefy for 19hp!
How are you going to mount the pins for the 3 point hitch?
Looks great - I'll have to give Sketchup a try.

looks like a "depth adjuster" may be needed....

The blades on most scapers are curved. Are yours going to be straight?

@Baby Grand

That's an triangle for the european quick hitch like this here Weiste-Dreieck_am_Fronthubwerk_2.jpg

@Dave

I haven't put in the bolts in yet for the scarifier, if you mean that

@jel 1988

I'm not too sure about that, an folded blade is much easier to make for me. Maybe i do an curved blade. Not to sure, if i can find an engineer who can curve me a sheet.

If I was going to build a box blade I would design it so that at some point the rippers could be made to be raised/lowered with hydraulics...

Hi,

i just did some calculations about the weight...

without any welds and bolts the box blade will have a gross weight of 153kg (about 340 pound). I think, that should give it enough downforce?:)

@ /pine

Yeah, i really like that idea, but it seems to be a bit complicated.

Nice looking box blade. I think the straight blade will work fine, it's the angle that does the cutting anyway. I'm equally impressed with your google sketchup skills!

++++++++

I was thinking of hydraulically raised and lowered wheels to control the depth of cut.....

Works a lot better than 3 pt. hitch adjustments, especially on "rough" terrain.... the wheels are usually behind the blade.... OR shoes that adjust to increase/reduce depth of cut...
Looks like the blades will always be set at the current depth of cut.... I could be missing something....
