I keep hearing people mention Progressive Farmer and have been wanting to find their website but I keep forgeting to do so.

I still have not found the info you referenced on the website because I got side tracked with articles on Tresspassing and property lines disputes!

I ordered a free issue. I'm sure I'll be subscribing.

That is one of the very few magazines that I read cover to cover!!!!

I eventually found the article. But I had to read a good dozen or more first!

I'm thinkng about planting an apple and nut orchard. The apples are to make cider. A guy I work with has a family farm that has apple trees that are 100 years old on them. I'm going to see if we can find out what they are when they finally fruit.

I got sidetracked since there where stories on grafting, cider production, growing a fruit orchard, growing nut trees, mulch, tresspassing issue, boundried line issues and finally the security story.

I think I read the magazine is $10 a year! What a steal, I mean deal.

That is a nice magazine. My B-I-L gets it, and he's an actual farmer. I found plenty of interesting articles on the web site. Most of the articles are a bit short, but they get right to the point. And it seems as much about general rural living as anything else.

And at $10, it really isn't bad. But I'm not a farmer. Well, my property is taxed as agricultural because it has pine trees on it, but I'm still not a farmer. I only had fair success with my food plots. So I'd feel a little foolish subscribing to a farming magazine. I'm just wondering, is there a Progressive Wannabe Farmer? That would make me feel a little less like a poser.

Here is another great magazine. It comes out six times a year. Maybe you all already know about it. It's another one that's hard to put down. I have nothing to do with the magazine, just a very satisfied reader. A lot of good 'homemade projects' in here. Agriculture equipment, farm magazines, farm equipment, farm inventions, farm machinery, agriculture machinery

I think you are right I click on one story/id and that was enough for me to get a free copy.

They had a man who buys 8.5x20 feet long culverts with defects for $200 and uses them to store firewood! What a GREAT idea. Keeps the wood off the ground and covered. No tarps needed. I don't know if he painted his but it black which likely helps dry the wood.

Gotta try to find one cheap and hide it from the wife....
