runs and then quits

workmaster 45 quit last night. installed new fuel filter right away and then it would run for 3 seconds and stop. finally it started and with throttle wide open it would idle. eventually it fired off and i made it to the barn.

this morning i hit the key and it ran for a minute and i went wide open for 10 seconds then it quit. i drained all the fuel out and put new fuel in. also removed the sediment bowl and could not see water. or dirt. finally i got the bleeder tube on top of the pump removed and some fuel was squirting out about an inch high. but it still will only fire for a second or so. when it fires i have fuel out of the injector lines but if it does not fire there is no fuel out of the line at the injectors.

if i crank with the starter i can not get fuel out of the line at the injectors.

my gut says it is not the pump but i am out of options. is there anything on the pump to be intermittent? with no fuel when i crank, it cant start.

My NH Workmaster 55 had a similar problem. There is a card on the dashpanel that controls the fuel solenoid (I actually replaced mine before finding the fix). The card can wear its contacts over time and the tractor will act like you've just shut off the key. Look down the forum, my post is there. The card is cheap--$8-15 I think. For me, the bracket holding it to the dashpanel wasn't all the way tight and probably added to the wiggling that wore down the contacts.

I sound irritated, but that's before I actually did the swap. Very easy. Cheap and I found a possible reason for excessive wear. (Bolt holding the the card slot to the dash was not tight) BTW, it's on the engine side of the dash--just open the hood to get to it.
