This is my first post and I have a question. I have a Satoh S-370 2WD. I've owned it since new in '77. When I went to start it last it fired right up then the RPM picked up on it's own. I shut it down right away and tried again. It did the same thing, only I couldn't shut it down with the throttle. I had to stall it in gear. I'm afraid to start it again. I checked the feul level and the oil. It used a lot of feul quickly and the oil level is overflowing. Do I have a bad oil pump/injecter pump unit or could it be something else? I love this little tractor and would hate to replace it. Any suggestions would be welcome, thanks.

I've heard a diesel will do this with gasoline in the tank. Other than thay, I'd say something is amiss in the fuel department (pump, injectors).

I can't offer specific advise, but it does sound like fuel is contaminating the oil. I would suspect a bad injector or injector pump. I'm relatively new to diesel though, so I'm not going to be much help. Good luck.

I believe you have a governor problem. Either the spring has broken or come off or there is a failure with the flyweights. Bill - satohparts.com - 1-800-609-5110

On the governor thought, make sure your belt that drives the governor didn't break or slip off, this will cause a runaway too.

Does this tractor have a low pressure lift pump before the injector? They look a lot like a car fuel pump.
A very common cause of this type of fuel to oil problem is that the dirpharm in the low pressure boost pump cracks and leaks. Then the fuel goes down the acuator arm which rides on the camshaft and directly into the oil pan. Changing the low pump is not big $.
