They were still here an hour from the Canada border in Upstate NY as of yesterday.

We've gone from about 4 or six to well over 20 and sometimes it looks like a lot more then that. It's hard to count them because they are all over the place, and then for no reason, they all fly off in to the trees at the same time.

I have not seen any ruby throated hummingbirds here for the past 4 days at the feeders.

All of our males have flown south and most of the females.

But we still have some around, so made another batch of "hummingbird juice" this morning.

I'm in north central Arkansas and they left on September 14th. Still have very few stragglers though.

we've got three of them fighting for the feeder. Ha.....so will hang another one.
One red throat, one yellow throat and one a bright green.....
Think it's the cold front....it's now only 95.....lol.......

We see some here, a yellow throat yesterday which we don't see that often......eastern central Kansas. Could be just migrating birds passing through. But it has been unseasonably warm here....right at 90 deg F every day for a month now. Do Hummers fly at night?
I suppose that he have to feed all the way as they migrate.

Cheers,
Mike

Ruby hummers migrate about 30 miles per day. I don't believe they travel by night. The males go south 1st, followed by the females while juveniles are last to leave and will be here with us near Canada when frosts start up. Just because you don't see them, doesn't mean there not there or passing through.

We are north of Montreal.
Still a few hummers around but the geese sure have started south.
Huge flocks a couple of times today.
The comedy is that today is almost the nicest 'summer day' we've seen.
