Anyone know where I can a whole tail light assembly besides a special order from the dealer? Hadn't had much luck poking around online.

Let me guess, you drove forward with the box up in dumping position? I have done that a time or two and the only place I found to get replacement lenses is the dealer. There are some that are similar they sell for trailers but I don't think they're the same. New

LOL, You are correct. The bed was actually down with a load of wood in it. Drove forward but I forgot to latch the bed. The counter weight of the wood tilted the bed open and ....Crunch. I need the whole assembly, not just the lens.

I have broken two lenses dumping chicken manure from ours. I need to setup a limit cable to stop it before it hits the tire.

A barrel of water in the back will have the same result. Busted mine last fall and couldn't find anything online either.

Must be a design fault if it hits the tires (or anything else) when dumping. My 900 lights have never broke and I have driven forward while in full dump many times. I have also backed into brush piles before dumping without an issue.
I think if I had one that hit and had broken the tail light once, I would relocate it to a position where it was protected. Also, a tail light is a tail light, just go to an auto parts store and get a new assembly for about $10-20 depending on what type you want. LED lights are going to be higher priced.

There should be a location that you can install a tail light that wont be in the way of dumping, be protected from limbs when dumping and still be visible. Building an armor plating around it might also be an option.

I agree that it is a design flaw. The wheel hits the fender and drags the fender under if you try to drive forward with the bed dumped.
