I had your dilemma when my hired hand ran into a branch and broke mine a couple of years ago........Curtis wont sell one to you and there is no way around the $700 hit...........Yes, plastic works fine. I have ridden motorcycles for years with fairings of plastic: lexan, plexi, acrylic, and even plastic wrap........it is what it is. Yes, it will scratch and yes the little stars through the plastic at night will drive you nuts........but you don't use the RTV at night, or do YOU???.........YOU can buy a whole lot of plastic replacements for $700...........God bless........Dennis
