I am installing the KFI U4500 winch kit on my Kubota RTV 500. Everything seems to fit perfectly so far! Only question I have is: Has anyone found an existing hole/place to route the two winch power wires through the "firewall" up front to get to the floor cable trough. Trying not to drill a new hole in the metal firewall!

Thanks

Jim

You can run it right down to the tunnel in the floor and then run it back to the battery. Right in the middle of the floor pan there is a tunnel you can run them, just cable tie them to the frame to get you down there.

Thanks, I was really looking for advice on getting into the hood area from the winch to route to the tunnel. I think I will have to cut a little from the black plastic crowling by the horn to route the power wires down to the winch. Just seeing if there were other ideas/solutions out there to keep from even cutting the plastic crowling.

There should be an access to the dash side. There were no holes drilled in my 500 with the plow installed. Wiring was needed for the actuator.
You'll probably have to route the wires down the passenger side of the firewall to the floor tunnel.

Actually I think the back of the dash give plenty of access. I ran a ground under the hood for my work lights and never drilled anything. I don't have it anymore so I can't give specifics.

You won't need to cut anything. I'll try to take some pics tomorrow of where my wiring is run and post them for you. I never cut anything.

I have just about finished the install. Here are three pics showing how I did the routing and the installed KFI winch. (I still have to route the control wiring and put wire ties on everything.) I just did not see any other way to get the power wires out of the winch cubby area to the floor wiring troughs.

In the lower left corner of this pic....that round plug comes out and the wiring will go right down through there

Looks like your method works but I would be a little concerned about chafing. I didn't understand which section of wire you were running, I thought you meant getting them through the tunnel and to the battery.

What I did is run the wires through the floor channel under the rubber floor mat, followed them up next to the gas and brake peddles next to the other factorcy wires. Then along side the tube frame thats under the hood and went to the winch cubby hole. No drilling.

That's how the factory kit is to get the wire under the hood. With the factory kit you just take a socket and knock that 1" or so diameter ring out. You wires will go straight down to the winch.

I will add that the the power cables can take a little persuasion to to get through the floor channels. There are other factory wires run through them and its a little tight. I used a metal coat hanger and fished the wires through. Now, you really have to look for them when they pop out below the battery, because theres alot going on down in that area.
