RPM sensor

Hey guys, i just received a new RPM sensor for a Farmpro 2420, the wires are different colors from the old one and I need to splice the old connector, the new is brown and green and the old is yellow and white, does anyone know if it matters what color connects, I called the company that purchased it from and they weren't sure either.
