I have now had my country estate for 20 years. Over this period I have turned my camp into some sort of comfort. It has a caravan under a tin roof extending to a verandah. My power is solar (64W of panels) and a ~2500Ahr battery bank. I have dam water gravity fed from a tank and rainwater for drinking. There is a solar solar HWS and shower attached to the verandah post.

I have now installed a filter and water chiller for the drinking water. I just installed a 2500W pure sine wave inverter that will run the TV, microwave oven and 250ltr fridge (only turned on when required).

It took until a couple of years ago to build a composting toilet (hole in ground with throne built on top.)

My question is why does my wife still not want to come down to stay?? Mind you, I am not complaining after all it is why it is called my sanity. :D

Sounds like you have a very civilized place in the wilderness. As to why your wife isn't there - maybe she thinks it's too civilized?

"An infinite number of mathematicians walk into a bar. The first one orders a beer. The second orders half a beer. The third, a quarter of a beer. The bartender says, 'You're all idiots', and pours two beers."
