Buying Advice rough start to a new ck2610 purchase

Couple things. Transportation is never covered by OEM warranty. That's a dealer overhead expense/choice. I had a similar situation when I bought my tractor. It's a small family dealership that I love. They were shorthanded and dealer principal had to do the deliveries when he could at night. I chose to pay a local hauler $150 to bring it to me because I didn't want to wait 3 days for delivery.

It's your choice, wait for delivery (at the dealer's expense) or pay for it yourself. Simple enough.

Or call a buddy with a truck and trailer. I would think that most folks, if they went on Facebook and asked if anyone had a trailer and could haul a XXX lb tractor for a reasonable fee.... you'll likely get it cheap or free. If you were near me, you would buy my fuel.

This SUCKS. The Kubota dealership is 25 mile away in Spokane. They have done two services on my M6040. In both cases they came out to my place and did the service on-site. No travel, no service charges. One was an added brace on the step up into the tractor. The other - replace a fuel line.

There is a lot to be said about having a good, responsive dealership.

Well, we bought (or thought we bought, but not really??) a new ck2610. Dealer delivered in on saturday. 5 minutes after he left, I started to dig a post hole and hydraulic fluid starts squirting out (a steady stream) from under the seat -- all over me, the hood, all parts under the seat, fender, tires, etc. Called the dealer, they picked it back up.

Monday, no communication. Tuesday, we contact them "oh, the tractor is fixed (O-ring blew out, now replaced)" -- "we'll bring it back in about 10 days or so." Doom on me. I have ~14 trees sitting in containers, waiting to be put in the ground, a fence to build, etc etc. Why the wait? Oh, "we are short on employees, 2 on vacation, and can't get away until mid-next week."

Then, another piece of info, I had to pull out of them (from a manager who was more transparent than the owner). Apparently there's a service bulletin out on this hydraulic leak. All (? - not sure which years) CK series need to have a part installed that will prevent the O-ring blow out. Tractor needs to go to the dealer to accomplish this service bulletin.

So, my perspective: dealer is sitting on my tractor for ~10 days post-fix, and even if they get the part in tomorrow to address the service bulletin, and could then actually deliver it the next day, I'll have to wait until their employees come back from vacation so there's somebody who can deliver the tractor.

Ok, some perspective ..... I realize these issues are just 1st world problems. But, I hate when companies (in this case, a dealer) tells me, "we care about your business, but we won't deliver your tractor for ~10 days because of our (poor-a$s) employee scheduling issues." The other thing I hate is when they say (which they did, twice) "we are sorry, you're upset." --- You've treated me like a mushroom: kept me in the dark and shoveled **** at me. Talk about a non-apology!

Ok, writing this was cathartic. I feel better now. -- Still waiting, with regrets......... wish I'd purchased from a dealer who cares, and incorporates the rudiments of customer service in their business practices.

Sometimes dealers will get away with what they can. There is no way if I just spent $20K on a new tractor, that they are not picking the tractor up immediately and delivering immediately when they are finished. But that's just me.

My 3510 had it earlier this year. Dealer put new oring while waiting on the new fitting. Had to do so twice but neither time was the leak more than a a few drops. I didn’t even have to add fluid either time.

Here is the bulletin and pic of the original vs larger/improved fitting. Since getting this I have about 50 hours without issue.

That is a power beyond plug from the valve manufacturer that Kioti bough the hydraulic valve from.

And as to the poster that said they never had a tractor that they couldn't trailer themselves,
I have very seldom had a tractor that I could trailer.

My 14K trailer sits in the barn (blocked up), awaiting the day when I might need it for anything.
License tag cost is $20 per year. I keep it current - 5 years at a time.
Value of the trailer is equal to zero interest $ sitting in a bank.
I don't use the trailer, but the nearest Kubota dealer is 85 miles away.

Well lets see I let my chauffeurs license go when the change over for the DOT started back in the early 80's, was moving to Colorado and they wouldn't grandfather it in at the time.
Now back here in wondrous NY trailer license fees are;
The annual fee is $5.39 for each 500 pounds or fraction of 500 pounds, maximum gross weight, with a minimum annual fee of $14.38.
You may also need to pay taxes and plate fees.

So for a 14,000 pound gross trailer it would be a minimum of 14,000/500=28x$5.39= $150.92 thats a minimum every year.

Then on top of that your 14,000 trailer must weigh what around 4500 pounds so you have 9500 pounds of capacity,
to light for most of the tractors I run, My Branson will tip the scales at over 10,000 pounds as she sits most days.

And then having to keep a truck around to handle that load safely but stay out of CDL territory hard to do.

Well........for $754.60 v/s the $100 for me, for 5 years, I would not keep a trailer around either.
My 14K trailer actually weighs 3,500 lbs including the 95 lb. winch, thus 10,500 lbs. is available for load.
My L48 TLB weighs just under 8,000 lbs., making my loaded trailer gross 11,500 lbs.
I purposely limit my loaded trailer weight to 12,000 gross.
I tow with a nearly pristine 1997 K2500 Suburban 4x4 with a 454 V-8 (it loves gas stations when loaded).
I installed Airlift air bags.
I tow over non hilly areas, and I only tow maybe once a year, so it works fine for me.

Well, they were quite vague about when, how, etc., it would be fixed. And they also said there was a newly issued service bulletin for the CK2610 that they were waiting on a part to fix (which was associated with the initial hydraulic leak). The latter claim turned out to not be true (there was a service bulletin, but it didn't apply to the CK2610). So, the story from the dealer was changing by the day. And since the dealer is a 3 hour drive away, and I was busy with other things, I rearranged my priorities to work around their poor service.

When the tractor was finally re-delivered, the driver told me they had the tractor fixed in 30 minutes after it was returned. And, he said that the real reason for the delay was that both drivers were on vacation.

Net/net, this dealer is unethical and either doesn't care or is ignorant of the basics of providing quality customer service. -- The good thing is that the tractor is now running fine, we are quite happy with it, and we will never interact with this dealer again.
