Hello, I recently purchased a kubota 8560 and am looking for a tiller for the unit. It won't see a ton of work although I do plant a pretty large garden space usually 1000 hills of taters but at this point don't have much landscape type work for it. Wondering about brands, options opinions possibly prices. Never owned a tiller or even a tractor with a 3pt before so pretty clueless.

Take a look at the Bush Hog RT series if you have a dealer near you.

I checked them out online, they look pretty solid and offer the sizes that I would need which is in that 80 or 88 inch range. As for dealers close to me it is Saskatchewan so everything is a drive and am used to it. Closest bush hog dealer according to the BH website is in stoon a 3 hr drive for me which we make every 2nd month or so regardless for appointments, meetings etc. Can also get land pride and farm king here as well.

going strong.

Ny can you go into unbroken soil and rip it up good with 1 pass?

IF you have many stones or other trash in your fields, then I'd be looking for a tiller that's tougher than a Bush Hog, or one of the other brand lighter duty tillers...

I'd be looking real hard at a Kuhn or maybe a Maschio tiller with a gear box rated around 100hp, and that won't be cheap... For that size tractor I use a Howard HR30, 80" wide tiller and it's about perfect for your tractor...

With an 85hp tractor, you can damage a tiller pretty fast on stones...

All depends on how much work you foresee doing. Why did you invest in an Kubota 8560? You seriously may want to change tire types to a landscape tires to reduce compaction to a minimum and to also reduce turf damage.

A single pass ready to plant tiller will be one that breaks soil below the hardpan at 14 inches, mixes in compost, fertilizer and gypsum or lime in one pass and that is the Northwest Tiller brand.

With your Mule the Northwest Tiller Vineyard Tiller Model will work well.

These tillers are top notch units and have been used for many years in many types of farming operations.

Quite often they have small used units available for sale as well and perhaps a used strawberry bedder will suit you if all you plant are potato's. BUT saying that ridge tilling/raised bed farming is great fro row crops because the crop out paces the weed growth and they are killed off from the row crop growing so quickly.

Not many stones if any sawyer, pretty light land also, no clay.

Didn't buy it for garden work leonz, bought it for mostly farming applications like raking hay, square baling, loading bales and I cut my own firewood and this came with a skid winch so couldn't pass it up. I also have a jd 7810 mfwd for a loader tractor but it proves just a bit too big for a lot of these applications. Wanted 1 more machine big enough I can get some serious work out of but small enough yet I can throw a tiller, spreader etc on it if I want. Owning a 20hp or so with a tiller is a 1 hit wonder for me as its too small for anything else I Need it for. Land area isn't the problem just make the garden patch bigger haha.

I plow and then till and nobody has any more rocks than we do.I leave the discharge flap wide open and make sure the slip clutch is working properly.
