I am talking with two New Holland dealers--one carries NH rotary tillers the other LandPride. The latter claims that LandPride is built sturdier yet is $400 cheaper. I am considering 60-inch model. Any recommendations?

Also, any thoughts on landscape rakes with guage wheels? York or other recommended makes/models? I have a NH TC-DA34.

Unless brand name is something you really need, skip them both and go to a Tractor Supply and get a King Kutter. No, the paint is not fancy, but the price and durability are. Really like mine and do not have an arm and a leg invested in it.

I'll double up on the Gear drive KK tiller.

Have used and abused my 60" KK with not issues.

Thanks for the KK insight. I'll look at Tractor Supply. Anyone else have an opinion? And sorry about the double posting--I didn't see the first one come up last night.

Just remember, in regards to the aforementioned suggestions "you get what you pay for". I have never one time in my life cheaped out and it didn't swing around and bite me square in the arse. Buy the Best and cry once. When you buy a tiller get the heaviest one you have trouble affording and you'll be fine.

I have two LP implements, neither of which I would classify as "sturdier". My PHD bent...requiring some beer drinking and oxy/acetylene fun, and my box scraper is nowhere near as good as a no-name brand I owned some years ago (not as heavy....). I paid considerably for both, and they are OK at best.

I bought a 5' offset tiller last year @ an estate sale for $200, and it is a monster. I tilled our garden last weekend in about 10 minutes...awesome. Maybe search craigslist, or your local ag paper for a used one for sale.

Heres my opionion. King Kutter.
I've owned a KK II gear drive tiller for 6 years. No problems at all, work real well.
