Rotary Tiller for Mahindra 2816

Hi all! This is my first post to the forum. I have been reading the posts on this website for over a year now and have gained a wealth of knowledge. Thanks to all that has provided good insight!

I am hoping that someone who might own a Mahindra 2816 could provide feedback on any rotary tiller that you have used with this tractor. I am in the market for a good tiller. I have looked at King Kutter, Phoenix, and Woods.

Ultimately what I would like is a tiller that can cover my rear tracks. The tractor is 59 inches wide, 28 engine hp, and has 23 hp at the PTO. I would love to be able to run a King Kutter 60", but I am afraid that it will lug my tractor too much. The 48" appears to be too small in width. The tiller will be used for gardening and food plots. Any new ground will be turned over with a moldboard plow. I seriously doubt I will try to break new ground.

My dealer has recommended a Woods TC60 for this tractor. The only thing that I don't like is the chain drive. I would rather have a gear drive.

I personally like the Phoenix rotary tiller that EverythingAttachments carry, but these tillers are fairly light in weight. I would prefer to have one in the weight range of the King Kutters.

Any thoughts, advice, and/or comments are welcome. Thanks.

The 60" KK TG-70-YK is a little big for wet clay ground, which you probably don't want to be tilling any way, and it will bog if you go too deep. It works fine on dry soil. It covers R4 tracks ok but just barely. The 690 lbs is good. The KK driveshaft must be shortened a bit.

It is a compromise but everything is.

You might look into a 48" with offset. KK makes one.

Don't under estimate your 2816. I have a 2810HST and put my uncles 72" tiller on my Mahindra, The ground was worked last year and it was extremely WET! my tractor handled it really nicely i just had a problem holding it up, it wanted to drop in about 12 plus inches. Just remember you are going to own the tiller and if you want to till shallow and numerous times its up to you. Some times you can get good deals on bigger equipment so if it were up to me i'de go for what ever i can get the best deal for the buck. Also dont over look getting it through the shed door too!. . .John

I run a 5' KK tiller with my 2615 and have no problems, even in wet clay.

Thanks guys for your input. I think I am going to bite the bullet and get a 60" King Kutter. Considering what I want to do with the tiller, the 60" would fit my needs. The 2816 never ceases to amaze me at what it can do. So far it has done everything I have asked and more.

You can help out your tiller by plowing the soil first with a middle buster and then rototilling. That's the way I did the ground work when I landscaped my new place 6 years ago. Saved a lot of wear and tear on the tiller.
Tractor was a 2005 Kubota B7510HST (21 hp engine, 17 hp pto, 4WD, hydrostatic tranny, power steering), the middle buster was a King Kutter from Tractor Supply, and the rototiller was a used 4-ft Yanmar RS1200.

Agreed. Brush hog/mow/spray/middle bust/plow/disc/whatever B4 tilling will help if the soil is compacted. Either way, I think you'll be pleased w the 60" King Kutter gear driven tiller.

I know this is an old thread, BUT, will a Mahindra 2516 hydro handle a 60" 3 point rototiller? Or, will this be too much for the tractor?

I don't want to damage the tractor.
