does anyone know if this attachment would be good for working with fall leaves? i see that you can angle some of these, and would think you could angle the sweeper and push the leaves from one end of the lawn to the other? any thoughts? anyone tried it? thanks.

I never tried using my rotary broom to manage leaves although I guess it could work. A problem I would think could occur is that if the sweeper is in a free float position it could tear the grass, and if it is a somewhat suspended position it would miss some spots and dig it at others. I use my mower deck as a blower and that works quite well. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The sweepers work very well in dethatching and leaf removal if they have the side caster wheel kit that holds the front of the sweeper up from the lawn so it doesn't dig into the turf. Here is a picture of a sweeper with these wheels attached.

Thanks for the picture with the guide wheels. I have been thinking about making some guide wheels for my sweeper and now I have a base to work from. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have tried using my sweeper in the spring to clean the remnants of mowed leaves and de-thatch in the spring. It can only be loaded up with so much material before the leaves are just pulled back over behind the broom. The leaves get somewhat mulched by the process and you pick up a lot of thatch as well. It didn't work well enough to really recommend it as the best way to remove leaves, except off of pavement.

Too mcuh pressure can rip up tender grass, especially in the shady areas. Healthy, sturdy turf generally fared well with the sweeper.

I wish I had a good vac system instead, but the sweeper came with the tractor when I bought it used. The sweeper is one of my least-used attachments.
