rotary cutter suggestions.

need a heavy duty rotary cutter for my tractor. I have a 2013 McCormick x10.50 h. the motor is 49 hp. roughly 37 at the pto. I was going to get bush hog bh26 bUT there spec chart says the Bush hog needs a min 45 pto. The bh25 will work with a min 35 n pto. some people say my tractor needs a 6 ft Bush hog some says 5 ft. wanted to get you all opinion. I'm clearing 5 acres. heavy brush up to 3 in.

king Kutter Heavy-Duty Rotary Kutter — 72in. Cutting Width, Model# L-72-80-HD is another I'm considering. specs say this one can handle my 37pto.

Look at Brown. I have a 472. It is built similar to the bh26. Very conservative rating. I cut 2"-3" small trees regularly with it. Weighs in at around 1100# for a 6 footer. You can get them a little lower cost than bush hog but dealer support is more problematic. They will ship parts from the factory if a dealer is not close by. Very nice folks. They are built so ruggedly I've not needed any parts thus far. Lots of road crews around here use the infamous Brown tree cutters for clear cutting. They are good units.

If you are going to cut 3in.trees regular;I think a heavy duty 5ft.would serve you better.I own a five foot Bush-Hog and a six foot Land-Pride,both medium duty;run on a 32 HP and 44 HP tractors.
Amour up your under-side if doing heavy work.

Your tractor is about the same weight and HP as mine, I have been using a 6' light-duty (LX) for 9+ years to cut 8-acres of pasture. Two years ago I got a good buy on a medium-duty (MX) 6' RC and I ended up selling it, it just felt too heavy on my tractor. My tractor would carry it and the HP seemed to be fine it just seemed to want to drive the tractor more then I did. If you ever have pulled trailer at maximum load, you know what I mean.

Best advice is try before you buy if this is not possible I would go with the 5' RC.

I would go 6 foot. You should have plenty of power. The King Kutter listed above is not a bad choice. Everything Attachments has a model as well. Lots of other good choices. The HD models will weigh a lot more, cost more and give you a little less finished cut most of the time.
