Don't know if any of you have ever read one of Roger Welsch's books, if not your missing out on some great writing. He's a freelance writer and speaker and his hobby is working on old ACs. He dosen't want to restore them he just wants to get them running. My favorite is titled "Busted Tractors and Rusty Knuckles". He has no qualms about admitting is lack of mechanical skill and relies on his farmer friends for help.
There is one tractor who's engine is stuck (read siezed) and before opening the engine up he and a buddy wind up gragging it in gear with another trator almost into town.
Really funny and an easy read.
His funniest chapters deal with how to sneak new tools into the shop without his wife finding out.
I'm sure you can find his stuff on Barnes and Noble.

deffinately a neat guy. he used to hang out on a couple old tractro blogs. I've talked with him a time or two.

a year or two ago a canadian author put out a book about old tractor restoration... roger wrote the intro to the book, the author wrote most of the rest of the book, and i wrote 1 chapter. was a neat deal.. was on sale at tsc and all... pretty neet picking up a book off the shelf and seeing your own name in it..

His funniest chapters deal with how to sneak new tools into the shop without his wife finding out.

There's a radio talk show out of St. Paul, MN called "Garage Logic". The host refers to that as the "48 hour rule." It can apply to almost anything, even a tractor. The premise is that you get it home and store it away like you've owned it a long time. When the wife notices, if it is less than 48 hours, you have to fess up (maybe have to return it?!?!). If it is over 48 hours, you can say " That old thing? I've had it forever..."

essentially it is an anthology or collection of tractor restoration stories. scott interviewed a varried group of tractor owners, then wrote their story based on the interview. For mine.. he used one of my own tractor restoration accounts i had written down.

hardbound, nice glossy over cover sleave.. about 1" thick

was neat...
