Road transport of 10-12' disk?

I have a 8’ 3pt disk instead of a bigger drawn disc. I tried a drawn disc out, equipment jockey down the road always has some.
It was almost more than the 85 hp FWA wanted in excellent conditions.
I opted for a 2422 (24 22” blades) and added a detachable 4 bar harrow drag (jockey scrap pile $100)
It covers my tracks and the few tight spots are backed into.
Adjustable gang angle is a must for food plots perfection. I still broadcast some wheat/brassica mix on harvested corn and soybean by setting the angle almost straight, hold it up with draft and run about 5mph to lightly cover and incorporate the seed into rough ground.
Be doing this way for 25 years, just got better equipment and land now to plant food plots.

Thanks. Yep, that's kinda the size/set-up that I'll be aiming for. SIL will decide when we start "working" the place.

Here, in the spring and again in the fall - it's not uncommon to meet a VERY large tractor ( big red Case on tracks - not wheels) pulling a gigantic implement. OR a massive combine. There will always be a vehicle - a mile or so - in the lead. Flashing lights - maybe even "large vehicle" sign.

Gives me a chance to find an area to pull off the paved surface. Just a short wait for the tractor to pass by.

VERY SELDOM ever see a large implement or tractor being trailered around here.

I pull a lot of things down the road and never a problem anywhere. One thing I like to do when I get something new to me is look at and grease the wheel bearings on the implement. It makes me feel better since lots of them are in poor condition.

I sold an old flail mower my brother stored by me for a couple years, the first thing the buyer did was pull wheels and grease the bearings, then pulled it the 15 miles home.

Good advice. My luck, I'd burn a brg or blow a tire on the way home...

Bearings, yes; tires, no. I've never had a tire go bad but I have had them go flat and just kept on truckin'. Got home with no problem.

I have done both. But they were on longer trips behind a truck. With a tire we would just go get a spare, bearing required a trip to the parts store and a roadside repair. But in both cases it was dragging back auction junk 45+ miles. If you check the equipment out, air up the tires, and grease the bearings your probably just fine.

Load sideways on another trailer. Most have a removable tongue. If its not modify it be removable.

We used to haul a 14 ft bush hog sideways on a trailer.

There's a J&J carrier or a Donahue drop deck in every weed row around here. A guy down the road has pushing a 25' J&J for a couple of months at $400 but it is still sitting there. I've pulled 24' drills for miles but it takes patience and courtesy.
