RK 55 Skidding Big Oak

Hey Mike, nice video! Where there's a will, there's a way. The 55 is a beast, no doubt. I've not had to deal with anything that big yet on our property, but it's nice to know that when that day comes, I'll be able to tackle it. My wife and I very much enjoy your videos. We've gained a lot of insight on how we might want to do things or approach things when it comes to our property. We've got a lot of woods and hills and old logging trails that need to be cleaned/opened up. This is the place we plan to retire and build our retirement home. That's why we purchased the RK55. We wanted a tractor that would handle whatever we threw at it. Nice to see it in action. Thanks again for the efforts you put into producing some really quality videos! (Love your choice of music, too).

Kind of sobering to think that you are on a 5,500+ lb tractor and you have hold of something that could take off with it, isn't it?

It is, going down that one hill was some serious butt puckering, I had the log rigged on both sides though to keep it from wanting to roll on the side hill

In my teenage years I pulled a lot of trees out of the woods with an 8N tractor. Then we got a little JD track crawler with a winch and we pulled a whole lot more. Get that front end off the ground and it pulls pretty easy.

Cool. We had a huge oak come down once, about 3' across. I told dad that would be nice as lumber. He had someone saw it up, and a few others. I never did get to make anything from it, but he used it.
