Ripper teeth type?

Most box blade ripper teeth I've seen have a strong curve to them. I picked up a 6' box blade from an older guy in south GA a while back and it has nearly straight ripper teeth. All appear to be unbent and shaped the same.

Anyone know if there is a name or special purpose for them?

When I bought it he claimed it was a Bushhog brand, but it doesn't look like any modern Bushhog brand BB I've seen. I don't know how old this is, so I can't say if it is an old design.

They look like the teeth on a tooth bar for a bucket! I think the origional teeth were replaced ? David

Looks like those wouldn't be as effective as the curved ones. I would think the curved ones might dig in more. Probably just older style is all, it will still rip it up.

You can buy new ripper teeth for it very cheep. I know I just saw a link to Box blade rippers very recently. I think it was in one of Robs posts. 3rrl

thanks for the replys! I wasn't sure if I should have called them scarifiers or what. Rippers was the first thing that came to mind. I'm a newbie...

I was considering some of those curved models from Agri Supply.

On this hard GA clay, they don't seem to dig in worth a hoot. These just seem to ride on top. I figured the curved version would pull itself into the soil somewhat.

Maybe they'd be different in very sandy soil. I think south GA is probably a lot sandier than my property.
