Hey guys, what can a guy do with the ring gear and housing if parts are hard to find and not cheap?

My situation is I paid for a 71 F600 with galion peabody dump, $1200 running. Used it a few times and found out the hard way what that "thump" was. I've got 3 broken teeth side by side and a 4th one off on its own. A drop out 3rd member is at least $1200 around here and I cant stomach that. The used R&P are $800 too, the housing is broke where the pilot bearing is suppose to be.

Any advice?

It's probably an Eaton rear end. GM also used Eatons in that era for their medium duty trucks so there could be more Eatons floating around than you think at local salvage yards. ID your unit and look at sites like HeavyTruckParts.Net for your particular differential to get an idea of prices being charged. Good hunting.

It's a 1200 dollar truck find a ring gear out of a junk truck or swap axles.
