Not a big deal, Mike. You don't need to log in to watch trad's video.

But on the subject of FB, I never signed up, but did find myself at one point needing to access a link there for some activity. I just created a bogus account with a bogus name, pointing to a bogus email. Wasn't a problem. Now I have a FB account, but it is not linked in any way to anything else I do, nor do I ever stay logged into it.

That's a really good take on the subject, trad. The trouble I see is that it's not just JD fighting this, but everyone from Apple to Harley Davidson... essentially all manufacturers want to keep end users out of their hardware. There are some legitimately good reasons for this, as users screwing up repairs can cost an OEM a lot of money in bad warranty claims, but there has to be some better middle ground than where we are at today.

FB is blocked on my network, too many back doors and too much FB spam wasting my bandwidth. Trying to view FB and FB spam links and FB tracking on my network just presents a blank page. On the positive side I see no ads on my browsers or apps.

I didn't try the link the OP posted, but I've noticed that you seem to get maybe 30 seconds to a minute viewing a Facebook page before getting a popup requiring you to log in. Even pages that are allegedly public. No way around it that I've found.
I don't have a FB account, have no real desire to get one, though I suppose I could do what you did. I wonder how many cookies (or whatever tracking devices sites use today) they still manage to plant on you.

The link trad posted will only have a login popup when you first click on it, but you can just click cancel, and it won't pester you again. Video was only 3 or 4 minutes long, IIRC.
