I had a B2920, about the same size as your 2650. I had a Howse 4' box blade that actually measured a little bigger than 48", and it was an ideal size for the tractor. I would not go wider than the rear wheels by more than a couple inches for usability purposes. The other thing to consider is traction; the B series are light for their HP. Even with a 4' box, it could easily stop my B dead in its tracks when the box filled up. A bigger box would have been worse.
On my L3200 now, I have a 60" box. It works well, both with the added traction this heavier tractor has and as a good fit to cover the tire tracks. No way I would have wanted a 60" box on my smaller B.
BTW, the correct width should be based on the tire contact tread width, so that you can cover your tracks. Usually tread width is several inches narrower than the outer width of the tire sidewalls. So don't be alarmed if the box is narrower than the tire sidewalls. Knowing the dimensions of the B series well, I'd say a 4' box is just right. I don't see a point in going larger on such a light tractor. I think your dealer was correct.
