I found a local tire shop that agreed to grind the rice/cane tires on my YM1700 (8.3/24) in order to make them closer to a standard AG tire. Although they had never put a tractor tire on the grinding machine, they did a great job in taking off the lip and rounding out the tire. I know I lost some traction, however the ride is much better on the hard clay soil in this area. Well woth the $25 I paid to have both tires done.

Anyone else attempted to make rice/cane tires a little less agressive?

I need all the traction I can get on my YM2000B, so I'm keeping the rice tires and opting for springs under the seat. You get the best of both worlds.
