I have r4s. It looks like I'd only gain an inch of track by reversing the wheels (and switching from side to side, I presume). Has anyone reversed wheels on that tractor and measured the change?
Thanks much.

I think the owners/operating manual used to give that info. I guess with so many different configurations available these days, they may not offer it any more. A call to the dealer or a visit to the NH website may offer some clue.

Only and inch does not sound right. I was thinking of doing it to my TC29, yes I realise mine is bigger but I thought I got over 7" with mine. I would have thought maybe 4" on yours? Maybe your dealer could tell you better.

Thanks for the responses. I sure can't find it in the manual -- guess I'll call the dealer.
Murph, I think your tractor is a different chassis and axle and everything. Also, the difference varies a lot by the type of tire, which dictates wheel offset. I think.

You are correct. I have a Class ll with R4's. And now that you mention it the tires will make a diffence. I was still thinking Class ll to Class l would not have made much differnce but the tire would.

I can't give you a starting width but I seem to remember that is was only a couple of inches, maybe 3. Anyway, I went and measured from rim lip to rim lip. 26.5" with the rims turned out.

Oh, I should have mentioned that's on a 4yr old TC24D with R4's.

I'm surprised the manuals don't have it in there.. AFAIK.. my 7610s manual does have it in there.. and my ex-1920 manual did have it as well. perhaps the scut/small cut manuals don't have that info??

Well Dave, I get 24 5/8 inches, so my offset comparison was about right -- 2 inches or so flipping them.
That wouldn't increase stability very much, I guess, and that's one of my concerns with this tractor -- I have a lot of holes, ruts, ridges and such that can tip it quite a bit, and my wife is going to be operating it too.
There is one good reason to change them, tho -- mounting the backhoe can take a long time because the hoe frame has such little clearance between the tires and just touching the frame with the tires throws off the alignment of the other parts that don't want to slip past each other.
But that's another story.
Thanks for that measurement.
