How many parts, cars could you move making profit with 4000. Compared to zero?

Having an extra 4000. To add to the next real estate deal opposed to zero means what ?

The fact is the resale value of the Korean tractors in most areas is very strong and right on par with the Kubota is some. The example given early in this post showing it to be only off by 5% is not unrealistic and in many cases it’s the same.

The problem here is dealers go out of business... even Kubota closed up in my county and neighboring counties... Mahindra is sold in a lot that sells trailers... I visited with a friend looking to buy... the only person that new anything about the tractors as on vacation... NO ONE THERE could answer any question or knew anything about the product... and mechanics or service... Korean has no presence here at all...

Of course people should spend their money how they see fit... no argument from me.

I own a Suzuki Samurai fantastic vehicle well suited to my needs and 20+ years of rock solid reliability... I bought it used and rust fee for $1000. There are no more Suzuki Dealers around here... all long gone.

I'm my own mechanic for the most part.

I picked up a broken craftsman tiller for cheap - easy fix (no parts, just time). Only used 3 times..so it's new for all intent and purpose. Dealer service? Nope...don't know where there is a sears around here anymore..the last one I know of is closing, or perhaps already closed.

LOTS of people are abandoned by sears. Doesn't make their stuff any better or worse - just less support. That's a deal breaker for some, not for others.

Folks restore classic cars, parts are non existent or very hard to find. Yet htey do it, and enjoy it. Same for old tractors. Oliver is long gone, hart-parr, cockshut and many more too. People still buy, restore and use them.

In 2000 Kodak set sales records. 12 years later they were bankrupt and gone. And they invented digital cameras.

there are no guarantees.

The only thing you need is service up front - ***'y, delivery, warranty coverage. Warranty is nice..but I've had issues with it over the years with various car makers...so its still no guarantee of anything. Just ask the folks that have tractors that spend mroe time in the shop than in the barn. And it's brand specific.

Yes things change in all directions. All the good JD dealers around me around me are long gone as well as my favorite Kubota dealer. The dealer that I purchased my Kioti from used to sell NH and many years ago I purchased a NH from his father.
The one thing that seems to stay consistent is the fact that when I try to sell something for what I consider fair market value there seems to be no problem selling it for that value. It is true however that depending on what it is I do sometimes have to fend off those looking to capitalize on the false fears others have created and I probably have missed a few due to the name brand game.

^^^ Yep and the dealer network faded around here long before that... two dealers in a metro of 10 million.

I will probably always have it... cost next to nothing and very reliable.

My brother got a killer deal an a brand new Durango with Chrysler was going under... 260,000 miles on the hemi now... so he got his money out of it no question... resale... what resale.

When Mom's 14 year old Toyota Corolla was stolen... she got exactly 50% of what she paid for it new 14 years ago... check for $7500 and paid $15,100 new.

Or the 90k like new Range Rover with 100k miles... best offer the owner got trading it on a new Super Duty was $4,500 or 5% retained value...

It is mine now and the finest vehicle I have ever owned... and part of my satisfaction is I did NOT pay 90k for it!
