you probably already know, i have 2 reporter and one ge driveway alarm: well, a couple weeks ago, one of the reporters started going off for no apparent reason: during the day time only. it finally ran the batteries down, so i replaced them and moved the sensor: well, it would still go off for no apparent reason, i moved it about 4 times "today" still the same problem, so i decided to open it up and set the switches to reduce the sensitivity. i then noticed a little black spider, inside the sensor. i still don't know how he got in, but the alarm hasn't falsed once, since his demise.

Something similar when some blades of grass grew up in front of the sensor window.
Thanks, I'll have to watch out for the spiders. It does well sensing the turkeys and the deer that walk by, and maybe a coyote or two at night.
I really like it for picking up car traffic a 100 yards before it gets up to the house door. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The first batteries lasted 9 months. I didn't think that was too bad.

I had the same problem with my garage door opener. The door would start to go down , then reverse itself and go back up. I tried everything I could think of to fix it, but nothing worked. I was on my way to buy a new opener, when I looked real close at the emitter LED. There are sensors down by the ground with emitter and detector LED's that will prevent the door from closing on an object if the light beam is broken. After close inspection I saw that a spider had spun a cocoon in front of the LED and blocked the beam of light. A quick swipe of the finger and my opener was as good as new. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

my ge sensor, which is suppose to sense metal objects, has started going off for not reason now: it started about 2 this morning, again, i went out with a flash light to see if the wind was blowing or something wigglin the thing, an found nothing, so i unplugged the receiver: i gotta figure this one out, because sometime i want to know if its a car not a deer.

Check the batteries in the sender. The GE sensors are sensitive to battery voltage.
