Tires Replacing Valve Core with Filled Tires

I have a junk valve core that I have to unscrew and replace. Rear tire is filled with calcium. My plan was to set the valve stem at 12 o'clock, jack the tractor to get the weight off the tire. Protect my skin and eyes, quickly unscrew the old one and screw in the new one. Any other tricks or ideas to limit the amount of fluid loss?

Before you start unscrewing that core, depress it long enough to relieve pressure.
You should lose little or no fill that way (in conjunction with jacking and rotating to 12 O'Clock).
Also less potential for the core to fly, once pressure is down.

You are doing it right.

Jack it up.
Have the valve on the top.
Let the pressure off.
The take the core out.

You won't lose much if any fluid.

Also have a garden hose handy, and pre-soak the rim, axle fender, and any other metal that might get wet with the fluid. Then rinse like crazy afterwards.

Change the entire unit, not just the core, if this is the style that I have dealt with in the past. The chemical eats the inside of the seat area internally and the leak would stop unless the entire unit is changed. I've changed stems on JD 4440, IH 1066, JD 4020 with filled tires.
