After owning my TC34DA for 17 years my steering wheel is flopping up and down and not locking in properly. Have read this is a common problen with these compact New Holland's. Anyone on this forum already went through this and have some install tips to share?

Do a Google search there are many threads on this subject. Search TC 40,45,34 D ,DA.all the same with step-by-step instructions.🍻

Got around to replacing the tilt steering cylinder last week. Purchased one from Ebay for 28.00, OEM 122.00. Very limited work room as this is an HST so lots more brackets and linkage in way versus the geared version. Hardest part was getting the circlip off of pin and pin drifted over enough to remove old cylinder. Hopefully this cylinder will last another 17 years like the original did

When I did mine, I installed a yellow plastic cap which they added to the DA models which yours should have came with. They add this to keep water forgetting into the cylinder not on D models. I also slathered anti seize on the top of the strut and all moving parts.🍻

yes. mine has the plastic cap but after17 years I guess it just got tired. Hope the aftermarket strut last as long as the OEM

Interesting I’ve never really looked at it on my TC45DA.

However, I would have guessed the non-hydro tractor’s shift linkage would be more in the way than the hydro setup.

My TC 33D steering column has been frozen for many years. I replaced the expensive cylinder once, it lasted 2 years. My tractor is stored inside, it was a big pain to replace. Its in the fully up position which is where I like it

I exposed the tilt steering strut and noticed it was not wet and not leaking. Detached the top of the shock from the tractor, gave it a shot of WD40, gentle tap with a hammer and voila, working as it should. Recommend trying this before spending big bucks for a new shock, hope it stays fixed.
