Replacing Steering Hose, Should I Bleed?

Well, I guess it happens sooner or later. Anyway I've got 2 new steering hoses on the way which should arrive tommorrow. After I hook them up, should I bleed the pump like I do during the 50 hour filter change?

BTW, the hose burst because it was rubbing against the inward bolt on the left hand steering cylinder. I'm going to get some of those rubber chair bottoms and put them on after I replace the hoses.

Nope, no need to bleed anything on the pressure side of the tram pump...only the suction side has to be bled. You should be good to just replace the hoses and turn the steering a few times, that'll fill the hoses back up with fluid and push the air on through the system back to the tank.

Highridge, I had the same problem. After replacing those hoses twice, I reversed the bolts. I had tried rubber covers (they come off) and nylon protectors used for wiring harnesses on the hoses. None worked until I reversed the bolts.

I just got the hoses today. Hopefully, I'll get them on this weekend. I also got some Amsoil Synthetic grease for the 60" mower.

As for the bolts, I've heard of this stuff you can spray on and it will harden into a layer of rubber. I'll try to find it on the web. I'll use chair bottoms as a temporary solution.

Sounds like your talking about Plasti-Dip...this is the stuff you get in a can, and dip tools in to put a rubber coat on them. They make it spray cans too now, you just have to give it more coats. You should be able to get it at a local Home Depot / Lowes / Ace Hardware / Whatever's in your part of the country.
